Kazimierz Dolny

It is a considerable tourist attraction as one of the most beautifully situated little towns in Poland. It enjoyed its greatest prosperity in the 16th and the first half of the 17th century, due to the trade in grain conducted along the Vistula. It became an economic backwater after that trade declined, and this freeze in economic development enabled the town to preserve its Renaissance urban plan and appearance. Since the 19th century it has become a popular holiday destination, attracting artists and summer residents. (From www.wikipedia.org)

We would like to present you with an offer of evening trip to Kazimierz Dolny on 18 April 2008. The trip would take place after the official closing remarks.

Program:

Participants will gather at 16:30 near the conference hall and meet with the guide, then at 17:00 will begin their trip by bus to Kazimierz Dolny.

In Kazimierz Dolny the participants will see the historic church of Farna and the castle hill, where the famous Castle Tower is situated. The Tower, in the past an important defensive building, nowadays serves as a perfect vantage point from with marvelous townscape can be observed. The next stage of our trip provides an excellent opportunity to see the remains of the castle situated near the Tower. From the monumental castle, build during the reign of King Casimir III the Great, only romantic ruins lasted to our days.

            After seeing the historical part of Kazimierz Dolny participants will relax during the cruise along the Vistula River. Afterwards our guests will have an opportunity to see the extraordinarily beautiful architecture of the city and feel its unique atmosphere while wandering around the city or relax in one of many restaurants.
